Wild opening weekend in the MAAC. At this point, Iona is a strong No. 1 and Monmouth deserves to be second. But it's wide open after that. I don't want to get too carried away, but I think the Stags are in the mix for the third seed. I think we can play with Canisius, Siena, St. Peter's, Rider, Quinnipiac and a healthy Manhattan.
Wagner beat American today, 55-48. The Seahawks are now 4-2, with less than impressive victories over American, Maine, Morgan State and DIII College of Staten Island and competitive losses to St. John's and Seton Hall. Wagner plays Rider and Monmouth before the Dec. 18 game against Fairfield, so we'll have a better idea about them. Fairfield's next five games -- Wagner, Loyola, @ Bucknell, @ Manhattan and Dartmouth -- are all winnable. We need to take care of business, one game at a time. We have a real opportunity to get substantially above .500 and to stay there all season long.
Just gotta get Marcus back on the court.
JB, agree that the next 5 are all winnable. Bucknell is a good team that we will be the underdog at their place, so that would be a very nice win. Manhattan is still a question mark because of their injuries, But they have been playing awfull with secondary players….. thats no surprise.

Providence won a thrilling, down to the wire game against a very good team in URI on Saturday. Ed has his team in the top 25! Yes he has one of the best players in America in Kris Dunn, but most of his supporting cast were not important players last season. Looks like he is developing another star player however in Ben Bentil. Will be fun to see if they can continue their good play once they start competition in the Big East.
Whatever became of that stiff from Fairfield Prep? Did Ed force him to leave or did he go of his own accord? Forgive my harsh attitude about him as I graduated from Notre Dame of Bridgeport in 1964 and I could never root from anyone from Prep as they were our biggest rival. However as a1968 FU grad I will mellow if this kid Nolan is as good as some are saying.
Thrilling endings, developing players, the ed cooley edge. Syd "",the " the furure is bright" Johnson so far has not developed that edge. I hope, perhaps that is changing this year?

Well he did leave on his own accord. In fact Ed was very unhappy at the time. Personal situation that made him want to go in a different direction. Everyone's right of course. BTW Pascal Chukwu is not "a stiff," ( although I do think I understand you are using a little sarcastic humor based on the school he attended). But anyway, he transferred to Syracuse, is sitting out this year, and probably will be a first round draft choice down the road.
The Iona score vs Tulsa was not indicative of the game. Tulsa beat Iona soundly , up by 20 points most of the game. At the end tulsa took a siesta and Iona closed the gap. I am now worried about the wagner game, I have it as a "W".I am starting to re-think that.
