BTW if I'm not mistaken RF, hasn't it been you that has been saying all along that Amadou will be back on the team next season? Could that be something that happens and if so would that be a good "trade" for Kevin? Just asking. I also wonder if it is possible that Kevin's ultimate decision might have been affected by this possibility?
I have felt from the start of last season that the plan was to redshirt Amadou for the year and have him return in the 2016-2107 season. The injury Sidibe sustained has a long recovery time and I felt they would only get half a season from him at best if they rushed him back.
If you wonder why the coaches never said this right from the start, the NCAA feels that Redshirt decisions cannot properly be made before a season starts. As a staff you are supposed to try to get a kid ready to play. The quotes I constantly heard about the decision to play Sidibe were always that the decision is in the doctors hands (from SJ and TP) made me feel like they wanted to make it clear they weren't holding the kid back, it was the doctors doing that.
So I do think that Sidibe will play next season. I don't however think we will see Malcolm. If they wanted to play Malcolm I think that would have happened this season. If Malcolm plays this season it would be because we have a scholarship that we have nothing else to do with, or he walks on, or he plays for another program. I think the liki-hood of any of these three things happening is very low compared to Sidibe returning.

Didn't Amadou participate in Seniors Night this year? I took that as a clear indication that he is moving on with his life, and I wish the big fella well.
As a frosh, Amadou was our starting center on a team that was ranked 58th in defensive efficiency, So he does brings rebounding, and Physical defensive play….. 2 things that we need. But he does need to be healthy. If he is right now, that does not mean he will be healthy next week, or next month, or next year . How much he plays? If he gets a scholarship? Or if he gets Over-recruited? Are 3 questions where the answers are fluid.
I would like to see him on the roster, but not necessarily get a scholarship. I would think that if Amadou does not play for Fairfield, then he will play for Iona or Manhattan. There is no doubt he wants to play.

Sorry to see Kevin leave -- he would have been a rotation player/contributor next year, for sure. Like everyone else, I wish he had gotten the playing time over Scott King. But I'm not sure it would have made a difference in regards to his transfer. He sees himself as a 30-minute-a-game starter at the 4. That was never going to happen at Fairfield, especially after the arrival of Milin and JK.
Anyway, I wish him well. And I hope Fairfield lets him play in the MAAC if that's what he wants.
I'm OK with Sidibe coming back next year, but I think we'd be better off moving on. We need 100 percent healthy big men, and I don't think Amadou will ever be that again.
I'm surprised by this news. Kevin Degnan gave Fairfield size and rebounds and was a nice target down low for Jerome Segura. Plus, he was developing an outside shot where he was hitting 3-pointers. What a shame but I wish him well and still believe the future is bright. Unrelated note - NEC Player of the Year from Sacred Heart, Cane Broome, announced his transfer to Cincinnati today.

Indications are that Amadou is in the process of getting completely healthy again and because of this he WILL be playing next season for the Stags. Assuming the good health, I certainly think he will be able to get back up to speed pretty quickly in his effectiveness considering his best assets are his defense, rebounding and physicality (as opposed to a certain skill set like shooting the ball). My opinion is he will be a great backup to Jonathan. 10 fouls to give between the two, maybe 25 min. to Jonathan, 15 to Amadou? Defense is where we really need to improve for next season, so this might work out well.
Looks like the Seahawks might be a good fit for Kevin. Still fairly easy for his family to see him play. And I believe his dad works in NYC. Other schools are still very much involved I think. Again, I sure hope it works out well for him!

Degnan is a great player who was never given enough playing time. He barely ever got to play long enough to even get into the flow of the game. I think he will get a lot of playing time at Wagner - and perhaps start. Best of luck, Kevin!

I think Degnan did have chances to show what he could do and he did play long enough in some games to get into the flow. He had 16 double-digit minute games in his career. However, he had many games that he did not play at all. That was the unfortunate part. But every player cannot play every game, especially the 3rd and 4th stringers. In his 2 years at Fairfield, he played behind….. Marcus, Kasibabu, Amadou, Milin and Coleman. And rightly so. I thought Degnan should have played before King. IMO, King and Degnan were very similar in their effectiveness on the court, but Degnan brought better rebounding.
What is really unfortunate is that Degnan would have been our top backup getting 20+ minutes at PF/C behind Kasibabu and Milin.

LOL...I hope you win that bet!
My point probably could've been worded better. Degnan probably only would've been our top backup PF/C if Amadou isn't back, or is back but not 100%. I have no idea if Amadou is coming back. I hope he is. Maybe the fact that Degnan is leaving is a sign that Amadou will be back? Otherwise, as JoeStag said, he probably would've been in line to see plenty of minutes.
