Realistically and not from a Stag fan's perspective, it looks like Fairfield Basketball only had a better location going for it against a big time BIG EAST program for Mustapha Heron, a projected NBA first round player.
Fairfield (MAAC) - 1,348 fans - 0 MSG games - 0 NCAA Tournaments in last 20 years St. John's (BIG EAST) - 8,154 fans - 7 MSG games - 6 NCAA Tournaments in last 20 years
....Adam Zagoria reported earlier this morning that Auburn transfer Mustapha Heron will visit Boston College this weekend for a visit, provided he does not commit to St. Johns prior to this weekend.
Heron is the nation's top available transfer, as he is expected to be available to play immediately due to a hardship waiver.
The 6-foot-5, 218 pound guard is transferring closer to home because his mother is ill, and is expected to consider Boston College along with Connecticut and St. John's. He considered going pro, but decided to return to school and withdraw from the NBA Draft. While most transfers typically have to sit for a year, Heron is expected to get a hardship waiver and be immediately eligible to play next season.
Heron has two years of eligibility left but it is unlikely he sticks around for more than a year, as he should be a first round pick next year......
Heron should help get them out of the basement, but it's a tough conference. They'll have their work cut out to make the NCAA's.
Well Jon Rothstein has a different take than you about St. John's if indeed Mustapha is cleared to play this coming year. Says they would be a lock top 25 and also that they have the best roster in the B-East. Maybe a stretch with both points, but don't forget, even with their struggles early last season they did manage to defeat both Duke and Villanova in the same week. And with a lot of their other players returning this may indeed be the year Mullin turns everything around.

Not if Big Ed has his team pumped...he picked up some very nice recruits.
No one knows if Mustapha Heron will get a waiver to be eligible next season, but if he does St. John’s is a lock Top 25 team. And would have the best roster in the Big East. #SJUBB
XU will be a shell of what they were this year, graduating their top talent and a few transfers. Nova losing a good portion of its core too. SJU getting Ponds back and now Heron, they've got to be considered at the top of the pack in the Big East. Team should be good
