The truism "Live by the 3, die by the 3" was never more accurate than in today's Wofford-Kentucky game, as Wofford's Fletcher McGee, the all-time NCAA leader in 3s made, goes 0-12 from beyond the arc in a 6-point loss.
For a mid -major to upset a powerhouse team like UK u must have an unusually good outside shooting night. 0-12 from three and 4-17 overall from Magee there star will not get it done. He got a lot of pub going into the tournament, but as far as I can see he kinda chocked. Even with that kind of shooting , Wofford gave UK a tough game.

Agree, the three is the only way Wofford could have pulled it off and KY knew it and shut him down.
Great season for McGee
Hey, It happens to the best of 'em...
In Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals, Knicks John Starks went 2 of 18 including 0 of 11 from behind the arc. He missed 3 Three-Point shots in the final minute.
-- Don't bring it up to him. Not a memory John likes to discuss.

Interesting similarity in both cases in that Starks in 94 and Magee now each had great games just prior to the rough ones that closed their seasons. Forgot the actual numbers that John put up in that game 6 in Houston, but I remember he was smoking that night, just like Magee was on Thursday when he went 7-12 from the arc. So I agree, it happens to the best of 'em, especially when you are so dependent on hitting from so far out. In this case I would say that Kentucky had a lot to do with the misses as they were in his face all day. But as a star, he had to keep firing away.

In the Hartford regional, the afternoon session ran long so the XL Center had a total of 45 minutes to empty the building and get the evening fans through security for the evening session --- meaning many Villanova and St. Mary's fans hadn't even gotten into the arena yet when the game tipped off.

Yeah if I was a dedicated fan of Villanova or St. Mary's I would have been totally pissed if I couldn't get in the arena for the start of the game. Total disgrace by the NCAA, and I give kudos to Jacobs for bringing the problem to light. I hope the fans get a big refund, just like they deserve. And BTW as an aside, this article by the former Hartford Courant columnist is one of many that get syndicated around the state not only in the Register, but also in the Conn. Post. Best thing that has happened to the Post in a long time actually, especially in an era when most of the things in that paper are on a downward spiral.

Top-seeded Duke scored four points in the final 15 seconds Sunday, coming from behind in the very last moments to eke out a second-round 77-76 win against No. 9 seed Central Florida.....
Niagara and Patrick Beilein got a minute of free press in the Michigan vs. Texas Tech game tonight. Patrick was in the crowd watching his dad so the sideline reporter did a quick segment about him getting the Niagara job.
Btw, did anyone else recognize the refs in the crazy Tennessee/Purdue game? It was a classic MAAC crew. I know I've yelled at them plenty.

First thing I noticed when I turned the game on was DJ Carstensen, one of the most recognizable refs in the MAAC.....
If you're Auburn - what can you do? The last foul was the right call... but every ref on the court missed the blatant double dribble that happened right before it. I'd love to hear an explanation. Is it that they weren't paying attention? Got dust in their eyes? Don't know the rules?
