From listening to the Open Court podcasts, I get the feeling that one of the highest compliments players give each other these days is to say they’re a DAWG. I want to say there’s no doubt in my mind that Fields and Floyd are DAWGS! The way they played last night after having played every second of each game on the two previous nights was impressive. To play solid defense, go hard for rebounds, and be solid contributors on offense while a couple of the other guys who had played less minutes than them in the preceding games looked drained —— is truly remarkable. A true example of total competitiveness from two guys in tremendous shape to go that hard at that level for 3 straight games in a pay to play postseason invitational.
Oh just a little easter egg, last night on the telecast they showed the first champions of the CBI back in 2012 which was Pitt. In the celebration video was Malcolm Gilbert who transferred to Fairfield right after that. Thought that was funny.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, where would we be without Ryan “Earl The Pearl” McPartlan and “Jumpin Jack Flash” Brown, glad you’re staying boys!!!

McPartlan did lead the team in points scored per 40 minutes played.
Granted he didn't play a full 40 minutes, but he did score 6 points in 9 minutes. That translates to 26.7 points per 40 minutes.
If he had just played more, he might have led the country in scoring!
Three comments. 1. Fairfield apparently doesn’t have the only Red Sea in D1 basketball. 2. I don’t think the campus celebration would have been as big at Fairfield if we had won this year’s CBI championship. 3. A part of me wants to believe this post is a prank. I would appreciate it if anyone can either confirm Seattle U. students actually celebrated winning the CBI or confirm that the below is a prank post.
I think it's a fake news meme...but I watched for a few minutes and Seattle U wanted it more.
THE CBI and CIT can lead to good things...I just wish teams like Drexel, Hofstra, and Towson, etc. were in it vs. under .500 teams willing to pay for a spot in a post-season.

Athletes want to compete and want to win. It would have been better to have won than lost this tournament.
Wins in any do or die situation matter. Yes, the NCAA tourney matters more. But when you are trying to build something winning 26 games versus 22, having a "Championship" versus having nothing.
It would have been nice if we had run the table in Florida. Not as good as winning the MAAC tourney but nice just the same. Given all that Lex and Fields have gone through, it would have been nice if they could have had the feeling that they went out on top.

I agree but also feel that they go out on top anyway! Last MAAC School standing and most MAAC combined wins for a season between Men’s and Women’s programs. Caleb earned the title “Mr Fairfield” just as Taj did when he played.
