Athletes want to compete and want to win. It would have been better to have won than lost this tournament.
Wins in any do or die situation matter. Yes, the NCAA tourney matters more. But when you are trying to build something winning 26 games versus 22, having a "Championship" versus having nothing.
It would have been nice if we had run the table in Florida. Not as good as winning the MAAC tourney but nice just the same. Given all that Lex and Fields have gone through, it would have been nice if they could have had the feeling that they went out on top.
I agree but also feel that they go out on top anyway! Last MAAC School standing and most MAAC combined wins for a season between Men’s and Women’s programs. Caleb earned the title “Mr Fairfield” just as Taj did when he played.
You know, you are right. I have so much respect for Fields because of how much he worked, how much he progressed his game and how he lead by example. Despite the final score vs Seattle, Fields is a winner.....
Fields is the marquee player for this years team. A guy who played close to fourty minutes a game. A leader on the court and in the locker room. When I think of some of the great guards at FF that I have seen in my time I think of Groom, Ryan, Wynder, George, Needham, Nelson and now Fields!

And as someone noted in our group chat, in the closing moments of the Seattle game, Caleb Fields stood at the far end of the bench his college playing days over. In the final seconds, Jack Brown would make three free throws. And Caleb applauded his teammate after each one.

Fields , great player this year and teammate ; he will be greatly missed and I don’t think can be replaced ; enjoyed his intensity and never give up attitude
Caleb was our heart and I won’t ever forget what he did for the Stags. Lex was also a great guy who appreciated being encouraged by us, same thing about Brycen. Jalen was a littke quieter but still a nice guy. JJJ also liked the positive reinforcement. I will really miss everyone who is leaving!!
