And one final edition to complete the weekend. Tyler Nelson with 20 (including 8-8 from the foul line) in a 3 PT win over St. John's, a team rated on a par with Central Catholic in the Mass. state rankings.

BTW, great article on this game on website-ESPNBOSTON (go to high school section). Lots of discussion on Tyler and how his game has progressed from previous years where he was just a "catch and shoot" type player.
Here is that link to the ESPN Boston article. The most important part of this article was that Tyler has improved to another level in the last 6-7 games. He is now much more than just a Shooter. His abilty to Handle the the Ball and Pass is critical if he is to get major PT as a 2G next year.
Matching Expectations: Early in his high school career, Tyler Nelson had a reputation as a long-range shooter who played mostly on the perimeter. Now, because most of the state knows of his proficiency, every team puts their best defender on him every game. He has had to find more ways to get open and figure out what to do with the basketball when he has it.
That was exemplified three times in the second half of Sunday’s game on when he came down with a rebound, turned, and hit A.J. Pettway with an outlet pass for an easy layup.
“In the second half, they did a lot better job of picking me up when I got the ball in transition, so that kind of opened things up for A.J.,” Nelson said. “They kind of sagged and focused on me, Nick (Cambio), and Aaron (Hall), so for them to leak out for layups, it just happened to be there.”
He finished the game with 20 points and seven rebounds.
With the graduation of last year’s starting point guard, Lucas Hammel, Nelson has had the ball in his hands more this season. For a player that thrives playing off the ball and coming off screens to create his own shot, he has had to become more of an all-around scorer instead of being simply a jump shooter.
“He is a scorer, one of the best that we’ve had,” said Nault. “He gets to the lane and creates fouls and finds others. Down the stretch, we got a few baskets from Nick Cambio because all the attention was on Tyler, so he makes the assist for an easy layup. Right now, he’s just playing at a different level than he was even six or seven games ago.”

CoachT (@teamfrenji) 2/12/14, 7:21 PM @msgvarsitykdj KD the kid @alakoju is legit. Headed to Fairfield. Your thoughts...
Kevin Devaney Jr. (@msgvarsitykdj) 2/12/14, 7:23 PM @teamfrenji @alakoju I haven't seen a kid own the paint like him. Total beast in paint. Fouls killed him tho. Could've scored 40
CoachT (@teamfrenji) 2/12/14, 7:24 PM @msgvarsitykdj @alakoju I saw him play this year. Total beast I agree. Could go higher than the MAAC but will have a great career there.
Tough for any MAAC school to get a kid with this kind of size. Like many big men, he'll probably take two seasons before he hits his stride. Let the kid enjoy the hype.
Tweet from last night on Jerome Segura (25pts 8rebs 4asst 4stls).
Houston Cowboys@houstoncowboys·Feb 12 S/O to LC Lobos on 7 straight playoff berths in a big game on Sr Night. Jerome Segura put it on his shoulders 25pts 8rebs 4asst 4stls
As far as Lakoju goes..... the tweet was from someone commenting on a HS game. So the depiction of him being a beastin HS was probably true. The ability to project that to how he will do in Division 1, is more of a Art than a Science. But it is the most important characteristic of a Mid Major coach can have when recruiting a player.

I remember being a beast in a high school game too. I scored 22 in a freshman game. It was all downhill from there. My fatal flaws of being only 5'7" and not being a good dribbler eventually did me in. But boy was I good that one night!
I don't know who Lakoju played against in this one game, but the competition does matter. If he did this against Dematha, that's a good sign.
If he did it against St Mary's School for the Terminally Insane, we might not want to read too much into it.
One comment that does not bode well is "Fouls killed him tho(ugh)". That sounds an awful lot like Sidibe/Johnson/Gilbert.
I wish for the best and hope he is the reincarnation of Bob Lanier ... but I'll take a wait and see approach for now.
