NC State is one of several high-major programs to reach out and gauge interest from forward Makhtar Gueye, who announced on Friday that he’d decided to leave UAB. UAB made a coaching change this offseason, replacing Rob Ehsan with Andy Kennedy. (Yeah, that Andy Kennedy.)

[/Gueye just finished up his junior season with the Blazers, but I’m not sure if he’s the regular ol’ sit-one-play-one type or a grad transfer. He averaged about 7 points and 5 boards for the Blazers in 2020, slumping a bit after an excellent sophomore campaign.
His biggest problem is in his desire to expand his game beyond the arc: for his career, he’s 36-138 (26.1%), and shot just 17-59 (28.8%) this season. He’s a good rebounder at both ends and he can block some shots and if he cuts down on those threes, I figure he can be a solid secondary option at the high-major level.

Listen talent is talent and I will ecstatic if we can get him, but I do see him as sort of a developed Maidoh. He has a more developed offense game it seems like and proved it with UAB (8 PPG two years ago and 6 PPG this last season).
We will still need that "big" like similar to the Seton Hall transfer Darnell Brodie who can give us size in the post this year and/or next.
* random note. I remembered Felix Lemetti announcing he was transferring to a JUCO in Texas, but it looks like he actually decided to go back to Sweden.

Wassef following the John Tice trail from Fairfield to CCSU. I wish him great success at CCSU and considering the Blue Devils were 4-27 last season, I have a feeling Wassef will get a great deal of playing time for CCSU.

. I wish the best of luck to Wassef! Wish his new school could spell his first name right. Not the best way to start.

No, not at all. But be that as it may, this is probably a great move basketball-wise for Mathnani because if you look at the scoring stats of all the Blue Devil big men this past season, not one of them averaged more than 5 PPG. So unlike so many who want to transfer up and quite often lose playing time, this looks like just the opposite situation for Wassef even though that team has been pretty horrendous lately. Maybe he can be a spark in helping them to improve. So once again I want to wish him well in his new adventure, and I hope he goes on to get a graduate degree at CC.
It seems to me the decision for Otchere is........ does he want to go to a bigger school and play about 15mpg. Or play at an Eastern Michigan (or Fairfield) and play 24mpg. I would certainly go after him, especially because Jay Young is a Big Man's coach. That could be our difference maker.
Otchere goes "smaller" and chooses Texas-Rio Grande Valley in the WAC.
The WAC isn't quite what it used to be. All of these schools were, at one time, part of the WAC.
Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Fresno State, Colorado State, UNLV, New Mexico, San Diego State, SMU, TCU, UTEP, Tulsa, Utah
Now its members are with two more joining this year ... Dixie State and Tarleton State.
It surely wasn't academics, as Texas RGV is ranked 571 in the Forbes Top 600 Universities and Colleges. Fairfield is at 135. FYI: Texas RGV would be higher than 3 MAAC schools. Monmouth at 620 and St Peter's and Niagara are NOT RANKED.
