Manhattan kills Canisius 17-3 in game #1. Therefore if I am reading this right, it's the Stags vs. the Jaspers on Thursday at 11:00 A.M.

Stags 0-2 at the bottom of the First as Manhattan homers off Jake Noviello with one on. Stags 0-3 at the middle of the Second. Stags 5-3 at the top of the Third. Stags 5-4 at the top of the Fifth. Noviello with 1 SO, 3 BB and 3 HBP. Stags 8-6 at the top of the Eight. Peter Ostensen replaces Jake Noviello on the mound. Stags 8-7 at the top of the Ninth. "Jake Noviello really turned it around in the fourth inning," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "I'm proud of Jake for executing a little bit better. We had some clutch hits and certainly some home runs. Every run counted as it ended up a one-run game. I'm proud of our hitters when they attacked." Manhattan dodged a bases loaded jam. Top 9 Up 8-7 Ballgame. Phew No one said it would be easy. Very important to get the first win on the board and stay in the winners bracket of course. Tomorrow's game is HUGE!

All that matters is the win.
Stags are in good position with their ace going tomorrow vs. some team's #3 or worse some team's non-ace.

Back from the park in Pomona as stags squeak by the Jaspers to win the first game. The park is a very nice facility and a good place for the MAAC to hold its baseball tournament. However , the food service is just terrible. The stags can certainly hit but the pitching is very suspect. IMO just donβt see how they can win the championship with their pitching. Good pitching by their opponents will overcome good hitters almost ever time. Hope I am wrong. Go stags.

Tomorrow is huge.
If the Stags win - and I like their chances - they go to the Final where they'll have 2 shots to piece together enough pitching for 1 win. They would also be playing against a team which will have played one or two additional games... and should in an even worse situation pitching-wise.

They would also be playing against a team which will have played one or two additional games... and should in an even worse situation pitching-wise. I see tomorrow as the de-facto championship game. The winner is all but certain to take the crown. I liked Currier's decision to use Ostensen in relief. Peter's better than anyone else in the bullpen and gave us the best chance to win. Obviously, he won't be starting Game 3 now, but I think he can give us an inning or two tomorrow. We can worry about Game 3 on Saturday. It all comes down to McVeigh. He has been our best pitcher this year -- 8-0 record (13 starts), 3.56 ERA, 73.1 innings pitched, 73 K's, 21 BBs -- and is the perfect guy to face Rider. He tends to grind out games, but tomorrow we need him to be sharp and dominant. Fairfield needs him to go seven or eight strong. If Rider gets into our bullpen early, we are in big trouble. No pressure, Colin. A nice contingent of Fairfield fans at the game today, parents and relatives, friends of the program and a few diehards like myself. This was my first visit to Clover Stadium. From the few streamed games I've watched, I thought it was an older ballpark. But it's only 12 years old. I like the quirky outfield dimensions, the short porch in right and giant batter's eye in center. It's got some personality; nothing cookie cutter about it. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Go Stags.

Go Stags. The stadium is terrific. Only thing the MAAC needs to address is the crappy food concession serving hot dogs frozen in the middle, dried out hamburgers and ice cold French fries. The excuse was not my job, we don't cook them here. And, they are getting stadium prices. Stop at your favorite deli on the way in.π
