I think AJR's outside shot is not great but he is better than an 18% shooter. He got handcuffs placed on him when he got to a slow start from deep, and that greatly impacted the team in a negative way. In fairness to the coaches, they didn't believe he would hit 25% for the season. And they might have been right about this.
Time will tell if he can show improved shooting from deep he has definitely worked on his shot. On the interior, I think he will be able to take the ball to the hoop with regularity in the NEC and will be an elite defender. He is a very good get for Central, even if we might be better served to have someone at that spot that can hit from the outside, I think AJR will be missed.
Unfortunately the fact that the Stags had little efficiency from almost ANYONE beyond the arc meant the shortcomings of AJ, most importantly his 3-point shooting, became something that was accentuated as a sore point among fans, perhaps maybe more than it should have been. A good team usually has a decent balance of skills that fit together like a glove which serves to bring out the best traits of each individual player and hence cover up some of their deficiencies. If that situation had in fact been more in play perhaps AJ and the way he played would have been thought of in a more positive light than it was. I personally liked the fact that he didn't try to force the action by shooting too many long-range attempts therefore leading him to be very efficient in his overall shooting (about 52% from the floor). Bottom line is if the shooting situation at Central is better than it was at Fairfield, I agree with you, he will because of his skills that he does well (ball to hoop, defending, athleticism, etc.) become a very good asset for the Blue Devils and our former assistant Patrick Sellers. He indeed will be missed. That said he can (and will IMO) be more than adequately replaced in the coming season.

For me, it’s wait and see if anyone on the Stags can drive to the hoop with a surprise burst and the athleticism of AJR. Granted, there seems to be a couple on this team who can do it, but will they have that aggressive instinct and be allowed to do it? AJR had a set of skills no one else had on last year’s Stags. I really thought AJR would win a couple close ones for us this coming year as he had found his strength. Yes, we have some shooters now, but will they again be struggling to get open? I am hoping to see an exciting new style of play. If our movement speed hasn’t improved greatly, then we need better, quicker passing. And we can’t play with tired players (from man to man); we need to use the bench.

CCSU had their intrasquad scrimmage today. Mark Carroll tracked the three point attempts of the players in the scrimmage. AJR went 1 out of 2 from beyond the arc. Read Carroll’s player notes to see he was very impressed withAJR’s overall game.
Some video showing Supreme in today’s Pitt- Georgetown secret scrimmage at a neutral site, won by Pitt 78-64. Supreme is #24 in the darker uniform. The video is from Pitt basketball so we’re not going to see any Supreme highlights.

Well obviously Pitt won 100-0! No anyway, I think this is the first time I have ever seen a video from any of these so called "secret" affairs. Maybe some limited hope that the Stags V. Bryant action tomorrow could show up on our screens? Probably not I guess, but one could only fantasize, right?
Foot surgery for Nef. Sounds like he might be able to come back for the end of this season, but from his posts it sounds like he’s thinking he won’t be back this season.
Netfali will be like Yetna , he will be 25 or 26 when he completes his eligibility. I hope he recovers sooner then later. Still one of the most exciting players to put on a stag uniform in a long time. He could be brilliant one game and then out of control the next. Best of luck to him!
I hate to take credit for it... and maybe my observation is unrelated to his plight... but just about the first time I saw him play I thought this is a kid that is going to get a lot of injuries, if he keeps playing like this.
Exciting and competitive player... wish he'd stuck around!
