I was there. AJR is unstoppable; if healthy, he will make all-NEC first team easily. It's mostly dunks and drives. He went 1-3 from three, 2-2 from the line and made one midrange jumper. He still doesn't rebound much. Anyway, CCSU had no business losing this game. When Central was up 13 in the second half and on the verge of a blowout, I thought to myself, "Well, there's one MAAC team Fairfield can beat." Maybe not. Manhattan is quick and athletic, but undersized. They controlled the tempo in the second half, made good offensive decisions down the stretch and hit just enough foul shots to win it.
On a side note, it's almost as if Manhattan HC John Gallagher willed this gutsy win. A large contingent of Manhattan/Hartford fans attended the game -- and they made a difference, noisily cheering Manhattan's comeback.
The Jaspers are 3-1, with wins over Bryant, CCSU and a D2. The loss is to Kansas. What a great start to the Gallagher era. Good luck against UConn on Friday, though.

Supreme Cook and TJ Long each scored 10 points in their games yesterday. Supreme was 3 of 3 from the field and 4 of 7 on his free throws as Georgetown beat American in overtime. TJ was 3 of 6 on his 3 point attempts and 1 of 2 from the foul line as Liberty beat Vermont in the championship game of the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
Going 3 for 3 from the field will likely move Supreme up in the NCAA individual stats for FG% the next time the NCAA updates their stats page. He had been tied for 6th in the country with a 77.78 FG% before yesterday’s game.

Going 3 for 3 in his last game did not move Supreme up in the official NCAA stats. Instead it removed him completely from the list. Apparently, the NCAA requirement is more than 6 field goal attempts per game to qualify for that category and Supreme only has 30 FGA in his first 5 games. AJR is currently 5th in the NCAA stats for field goal percentage with a % of 76.19.

Michael Rogan would currently be 3rd in the nation in three point shooting percentage however he is a half of made three point basket away from qualifying (12 made needs 12.5 to qualify). Should he connect on three versus UNH he will be among the national leaders
Brycen Goodine is currently qualified and sits at 35th nationally.

As Paulie stated — when he’s not, he’s not. TJ missed all 7 of his FGA (6 of them were 3 point attempts) in Vermont’s 79-70 loss at Bradley last week. He did however hit both of his free throws.
Strange ending to last night’s Georgetown/Merrimack game. Merrimack is down 2 with 4 seconds to go, they deliberately miss the foul shot, get the rebound and then proceed to miss 3 attempts in the last 4 seconds. Supreme is #24 in gray in the video.
Cooley has a lot of work to do in order to return G-town to Big East competitiveness. I have watched the Hoyas several times this year and have not been impressed. Big Ed is a great coach and I am confident he can turn things around in DC. Stay tuned!

Unbelievable flashback to 2 games last year where Supreme had inside position on last second foul shots and failed to secure the rebound. At Rider he let either James or Johnson come over his back to tap the ball out leading to a game winning shot. Manhattan he let smurf Samir Stewart go around him for a rebound turning another sure W into a L. Ugh.
CCSU wins at home over Holy Cross 78-67. AJR with 14 points, 3 blocks, and he hit the only three pointer he attempted. So far he is 5 of 10 from beyond the arc this season, quite an improvement in his percentage over last year.

And Holy Cross travels to a dumpy gym in New Britain.
I don't buy the line that schools like these won't come and play us at home. CCSU did not pay them to come.
Someone on the men's side needs to have a conversation with Blake Dudonis, St Johns and Fordham this year, Michigan last year.
I'm not looking for Michigan, St Johns or even Fordham for the men. Bring in Bucknell, HC, Colgate, BU, Army NOT Lehman.
Our home schedule this year is as pitiful as our record.
BTW, we are not 1-6 we are 0-5 and that's what should be reflected on the website.
A Q&A with TJ Long on the 4 point play he made to defeat Yale last weekend.
You know what's really amazing about what TJ did in the sequence just after he hit the shot? He kept his composure by NOT doing some stupid celebration which the modern athlete tends do after completing an important play, but rather thought of the immediate situation by waving his teammates from the floor so they wouldn't get hit with a technical and therefore lose the game. Very, very mature act on his part. Poetic justice for sure that he finished the night by making the most important free throw he has ever attempted!
