This will be the 131st match-up between Fairfield and St. Peters. The Stags have faced the Peacocks more times than any other program (130 times) with the series tied (65-65). Fairfield won both regular season games the last 2 seasons, however St. Peters ended Fairfield’s season each of the last two seasons with wins over the Stags in the MAAC tournament.

In the semi-final round of the 2021 MAAC tournament, the Stags found themselves trailing by 12 points with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Stags started their comeback with a drive to the basket by Allan Jeanne-Rose. After a Drame free throw at the 6:28 mark, the Stags put together an 11-point run which tied the score at 20-20 starting with 4 straight points from Supreme cook and finished with a three-point field goal by Jesus Cruz. Eventually, SPU would take a two point lead into the half. However in the second half, the Stags found success from deep. Jesus Cruz started the half with a three-point field goal on the team's first possession to grab the lead for the first time since the opening minutes of the game. After Saint Peters tied the game, Fairfield turned to its defense into offense as the Stags turned SPU over and outscored them 16-2 count over the next 10 minutes which turned that deficit into a 10-point lead with five minutes remaining. Fairfield locked up the win by making foul shoots leading to a win and the Stags last championship game appearance.
2014 - #7 Saint Peter’s 65, #10 Fairfield 62 (OT)
In one of the most evenly played games in tournament history, the teams fought to a 30-30 halftime tie thanks to a half-time buzzer beater by Stevie Johnston. With the game tied at 58-58 and 3.3 seconds remaining, Marcus Gilbert drove to the basket missing a lay-up that lead to overtime. Trailing by 2 with only 6 seconds remaining in the overtime a Maurice Barrow bucket tied the game. Lighting then struck for a third time as in overtime as Saint Peter’s Desi Washington launched a 3 pointer with 1.4 seconds remaining sending the Stags to their third straight defeat versus St. Peters. Washington had won both regular season games for Saint Peters with 3 pointers at the buzzer.
1997 Semifinals #8 Fairfield 73 - #4 Saint Peter’s 61
The number 8 seeded Stags upset the number 4 seeded St. Peter's Peacocks, with a 73-61 win in the semi-final round of the 1997 MAAC tournament. In that contest fours Stags reached double figures including Greg Francis (16), Shannon Bowman (15), Darren Phillip (16) and Kyle Commodore (12).

>> Corey Washington made the All-MAAC First Team on Monday. The SPU sophomore had a breakout season for the Peacocks. Washington leads the Peacocks in scoring with 16.8 points per game and rebounding (6.4 rpg). The SPU standout has scored 20+ points in nine games and tallied four double-doubles on the year.
>>Latrell Reid was awarded the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. The New Jersey native averaged 11.4 ppg, 4.2 rebounds per game (third in the MAAC). Reid started in every game for the Peacocks this season and tallied two double-doubles.
>> On Thursday the Peacocks pulled out a 50-48 victory over Rider in the MAAC Quarterfinals. Michael Houge scored a season-high 20 points with eight rebounds. Marcus Randolph shot 3-5 from beyond the arc and added 10 points. It was the ninth game Houge has scored in double figures this season. Saint Peter's had nine blocks and never trailed in the game.
>> Friday, The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team knocked off the No. 1 seed Quinnipiac 62-60 in the MAAC Tournament Semifinals. Tied at 60-60 with 10 seconds left, Mouhamed Sow came up with a pivotal rebound and scored the game-winning layup at the buzzer. Sow led the Peacocks with a season-high 15 points, six rebounds and four blocks. The 6-9 forward shot an efficient 6-8 from the field and 3-4 (75%) from three-point range. Corey Washington scored 13 points, with seven rebounds, two assists.
>> The Peacocks defeated Quinnipiac after they dropped both games in the regular season.
>> SPU's defense is ranked 14th in the nation.

In what he described in last night's post game press conference as a “gut-wrenching” decision, Caleb Fields announced that effective immediately he will be leaving the Men's basketball program to join Fairfield's Prestigious Men's Glee Club. “Although these past three years of playing for this team have been amazing, I know in my heart I belong in singing,” said the team Captain and all-conference player. While I know I am the best post defender on the team, and I have so much love for my teammates and the coaching staff, I'll never be able to forgive myself if I don't at least try my true passion of singing. After taking his shot at singing, Fields has not ruled out pursuing his other passions which include ballet dancing and Duck Pin Bowling…… With apologies to Caleb Fields and congratulations for an outstanding MAAC tournament
