Can someone clarify for me - It looks like we will now have 4 guys who would fill the 1 or 2 spots (JS, Tyler, JJ, and Aidas). Is Olivier competing with CC and Nolan at 3? And JK, Milin, Degnan, and Smith are what we have at 4 and 5? Do we have another scholarship for up front help? If Amadou comes back as grad, will he use up a scholarship? Seems like we could use a bigger body to help inside.
What I saw on the video is that Olivier was more of 3. I saw a lot more Rebounding than Passing in the videos. And from some of the Photo's, Olivier seems very strong and built.
I agree that we don't need just another shooter, but this kid seems he is a different type of player than Tyler, Cobb, Segura, Aidas, or Nolan. Coaching staff said we were after a 3, 4, and a 5, and one of the players would be a 3 that could replace Marcus. I feel that is what Olivier is. My guess is that Olivier and Cobb will man the 3 position…. leaving us with 5 guards at the PG/2G, and 3 players at the PF/C, with 2 big men to be added.
But we must get at least 1 Rebounder and shot blocker.
Save that scholarship for a 5th year stud if one is available. Obviously we(everyone seems to need) a rebounding shot blocker/rebounder. Where is Goodluck. We need at least 3 star. If one not available, stand pat on what we have.
Naples, a fifth year " stud". I hope that comment was in jest? FU does not get studs. What we get is marginal fifth year players like King. I say use the scholarship for the best available true frosh and continue the re- building process, What we need is an inside player who is a forward that wants to rebound, mix it up, strong, thick body, big legs and a big ass for rebounding,
Gilbert has been playing as a stretch four. Milin can be exactly that. Obviously, not as many guard skills, but most stretch fours at this level are not 6'9. I believe the staff will bring in a true center, likely from Europe or a prep school, as the final recruit. No more 18 year olds.
He seems fairly quick but I wonder if his competition is at US level. Weak competition can pad stats.
We really must have a true rebounder -- not a big guy who likes to chuck threes or a "project". We need someone who is ready now. Wish there were trades among conference schools.
I don't see Olivier as a replacement for Marcus. I see him being very similar to Tyler. I think we need a 6'5" to 6'7" athletic wing ala Marcus, Rakim or AJ. Milin has proven himself to be very capable, but I am not sure he is a fit at the 3 position. I see him bulking up and playing the 4 with Jonathan remaining at the 5.
Many college teams have great success with a 3 guard, two forward set. This signing suggests that FF is going in that direction. Now, for one more big man.
I am very concerned about the front line for next season. Outside of Milin and Kasibabu with his many limitations what do we have?
I have been concerned about this all year. I have felt that for this reason Degnan not king needs to get the backup minutes especially since I consider Degnan to be as good or better than King. Next year we loose King, CJ, and Kirkland. together they have given us a lot of valuable minutes particularly when JK was in foul trouble. I guess next year those minutes all go to Sidibe? And at the four Milin and Degnan split 40 minutes at the 4?
I felt we were an injury away from disaster at guard this year. We have been lucky no one has been significantly injured. That is how I look at the 4 and 5 next year, we need a recruit to give us minutes at those spots. I don't know if anyone coming in gives us that at the 5.

Although most of the best players are from Metro Toronto, nobody questions the high quality of Canada prep hoops anymore. I don't see Olivier as a clone of Tyler or Curtis. He's got a different build and probably more of a power game than either of those two. Who knows, but he could bring a new look to our offense while providing us with a physical defender.
I do think we will end up with a European or JUCO to help up front. Of course, you never know with recruiting, few expected as much as we've gotten from our frosh. Another class like that would be exceptional.
Tom Parotta recruited PG Joseph Chartouny while at Fordham. Chartouny played at the same school as Cadieux and is one of the top rookies in the A-10. I'm sure Parotta saw quite a bit of him.
