Parotta's fingerprints seem to be a good thing to me. If FF had a 6'4 freshman PG averaging over 10 ppg, along with 5.8 rpg, and a nearly 2.5 to 1 assist turnover ratio, Stags fans would have Chartouny up there with Joe Desantis, already.
It is interesting watching the Fordham vs St. Louis game tonight. Parotta's imprint is all over this game. 2 of Olivier's high school teammates are starters along with a big German forward and a Czech wing who sees a lot of minutes. It feels like a preview of the international direction of Stags basketball.
From the 10th place Fordham perspective though, I am only seeing MAAC level talent. Further, former MAAC brethren Lasalle is dead last with just 2 wins in the A10.
How far did Jared Jordan take them in the MAAC tournament?
I believe Jordan's senior year they won 25 games and were maac regular season champions. That was 9 years ago, but I think they lost in the Maac semi's. So I think you are right that they didn't make the NCAA's, they were an NIT team.
But if making the NCAA is the standard, we need to be given the heave ho too. Its been 19 years for us and counting...
Feels like it to me too. My son who might be headed to Fairfield this September was not even born the last time we won. So for the students, not much different than when my father talks about how good Holy Cross is and that they were NCAA national champions. Its true but to me 1947 was a long time ago
Also, since he is from Canada the chances he would turn into a thug like Tice was ( even though John was a good basketball player) are much less if not zero.
The way he plays fearlessly and strongly reminds me of John Tice. Except Olivier has a better handle and more range on his jump shot.
He is a great fit for the spread the court, up tempo style we play. I think he will thrive in our system and make us even tougher to defend.
The recruiting continues to be very good.
That's a fair assessment based on the video. Nice how he drives the baseline hard with either hand. I guess he will be on campus in May or June with Aidas. Still a couple more spots to fill. Looking for a Euro big with lots of upside and a 3-star 3/4.
