Lots of discussion above on how good Sears is based on the video(s). I also got confused, and did not see every video. I missed seeing this video. Check this out, this kid is very good ….. inside and outside. Reminds me a lot of "Hammerin" Hank Foster.
Like his versatility and physicality. Even better that he is a good student with the 3.4 GPA. Mr. Sears would thrive in our up tempo system and compete for minutes right away.
A great fit for him and the Stags.
Yes, the HUDL video was the video I reviewed and served as the basis for the comments I made above. He is a Hank Forster type with a better perimeter game and better handle. Would be a strong player for us at the three and a tough matchup for other "3"'s in the MAAC . Great blend of strength, athleticism and skill.

Also first time I have watched this video. Much better feeling about this kid now! Style similar to Foster? Maybe, but to me there might be some similarities to Billy Jones. WAY before your time though JS.
I don't think anybody underrates how good Hank Foster was. He actually played 3 years and sat out his 2nd year. If I remember correctly, he was not academically eligible to play a red-shirt 5th year. If he could have played, we would have had a great team, as he would have overlapped with Debisschop's great Sr Year, and Tony George's great frosh year….. thats a 3 headed monster that would have been needed to Win a MAAC Championship.
Well first of all this comparison won't mean anything if the kid never comes on board. Same as myself throwing out the name Billy Jones. Can't speak for JS on Foster but in my case I am just suggesting a comparison of style and certainly not stating how good he would be if he becomes a Stag. But of course if he indeed comes to Fairfield we would certainly hope some of these comparisons are valid, right? Anyway, it's interesting to look back at these records both about Hank and the team. Certainly shows that the more things change the more they remain the same in that, despite Hank's numbers and the other big guys (Peter D. and Wejnert), the poor production of the guards during those years led to mediocre or worse results. You have to have good guards to win, fortunately a situation that appears to be in good shape at the present time!
Be careful when you compare this player to Foster. Hank was a Big East caliber talent. Not on the same level! Hank was a bright guy who came from an academic oriented family. Both his parents were in education and one of them was a principal. I heard Hank interviewed and was impressed. His problem was that he was immature and after a few campus incidents, he was told to leave. I believe that he finished at Fordham.

I think people are comparing Damien Sears to Hank Foster because of "Style of Play" not saying he is a good as Hank Foster. IMO, we definitely can use a Hank Foster style of player at PF. It's a different than a Milin. Some of our other current recruits have the following Comparisons in "Style"
Damien Sears => Hank Foster Zac Saddler => Larry Bird (credit to Bridgeport) Sukjhot Bains => Marcus Gilbert Rob Montgomery => Mo Barrow
And here he is….. the Man, the Myth and the Legend……. Hank Foster. I remember he was playing hoops in Austrailia. This photo has got to be him, because he is a Hoops coach in Austrailia now. Certainly one of the most popular players in Stag History, because of his Powerful dunks. He has to be one of the most talented players is Stag History. I would say top 10. He does not get mentioned a lot because the teams he played on were not that good.

Again RM, we are (at least I am) just referencing "style" of play. Am not in any way saying we would have a player as good as Hank Foster (or Billy Jones) if he came here. Heck, the odds are probably not good that he will be a Stag anyway. We played at a different level back then as you and I know. But yet I will repeat something I have mentioned a couple times recently, that being that it "appears" as though we are shooting a bit higher now in our recruits than may have been the case a couple of years ago, and I think that's important if we are going to move up to a consistent league contender. Hopefully appearances don't turn into a mirage when we add up the value of whomever else we sign for the coming year.
