One of the worst teams in the country, last year - but their star guard is given a 6th year of eligibility following an injury. Bigger school. I'd love to say their record of success look comparable to Fairfield, but really... they were in the NCAA tournament a few years ago, along with various C-trips.
Having said that - I don't think their prestige level is going to impress most vs. Fairfield's.
* well... actually 3 NCAA appearances in past 15 years, including 2 wins. So, yeah... if that was a factor - I'd say they had a small leg up.
Local kid stays local is the story. Any number of likely reasons for that.

Since Damien Sears never visited Fairfield, I do not think we could have offered him. Sounds like he decided to stay local.
That exactly right JS. I am not too upset about this one, although he would have been a nice addition. LA to CT would have been a significant life change on many levels for the young man.
That really stinks if you set up a weekend visit and then are stiff-armed. Could have had someone else on campus while the students were still there.
This is why I felt bad for the coaches. The kid cancels at the last minute when the coaches could have been out recruiting others. I guess it goes with the territory though.

This is why I think there has to be greater efforts made on the local kids. Plenty are not quite high major caliber and want to be where friends and family can visit. The education on top of that should clinch it.
