A Tweet from Damien Sears at 2:30pm today. Sears was supposed to visit this weekend. (@gasp_Its_Damien will be visiting Fairfield May 6-8!) Don't know if his committment is for the Stags or not…… but it sure sounds like he is a Stag.
Reading the Twitter tea leaves, it seems like he might have been in Memphis on Friday and posted the message that he had decided on Saturday. Then again, isn't JJ from Memphis? And, it looks like the Stags had a relationship with Damien going back to at least the first of the year... then again, who knows... a kid could easily decide he wants to stay near home, or doesn't like cold... or whatever else!
Damien did not visit and I would imagine will not be a Stag. I feel bad for the coaches that wasted their time on this kid.
This is beyond frustrating. I thought after last season's turnaround and move to an uptempo offense that we would attract a lot more interest from recruits. I think we are still suffering from a lack of identity and an unfamiliar name. We still have a long way to go. I think the coaches should continue to focus on recruiting New England where we are known and internationally where we are recruiting on more of a level playing field.
Until then, bring on Malcolm!!!

Well that's too bad that he won't be a Stag. Bring back Malcolm? No, that's not our need. Recruiting NE, we have done very well the last two years with Tyler, Curtis and JJ (from prep school) and Tommy, so yes I'm sure we are still working in this area. International, got to think we are still very much involved with a least one prospect from outside the US. As a former HC of the Stags and now assistant (Mitch) used to yell all the time, PATIENCE, PATIENCE!

We don't know anything for sure at this time. If he signs with some one else I do not feel bad for the coaches, it is their job to recruit. A " waste " of time? No. Not every kid u want, wants you. That goes for atheletes as well as general students. All part of the gig. I do agree that I had hoped last years season and an up tempo play would provde Syd " " Johnson with some recruiting leverage. Not sure that is the case? Let's see who Damien signs with . If it is NC A&T or Campell or New Hampshire then we will know that we gained little recruiting leverage because of his successful season. The next few weeks will tell the story.
Well this kid certainly seemed like a player. But who knows? Unlikely, but we might have even moved off him. I do think that we see just the tip of the iceberg on recruiting -- if no one tweets it we don't find out much. And Twitter isn't gospel either. Unless someone has Parotta's travel schedule, who knows where we are with international players. Still, I'm getting a bit anxious about our final two spots.

Certainly, players have visited that have not had tweets.
I like the idea of getting a Foreign player as a big man, because they do seem to be older, and have some good skills. I also think we can get a Player that gets over-recruited from a major school by a 2017 recruit….. thats how we got Oscar Garcia from UNLV as late as September. Or maybe get a player that has committed to a Prep school and changed his mind….. thats how we got Jon Han in late August. Of course to put Oscar Garcia and Jon Han in the same sentence is like putting a match to Gasoline.

Great point here about the association with Twitter and how important it becomes in us fans getting a sniff of what is going on but yet at the same time can be so misleading. So I do agree, what we "think" we know may indeed be only the tip of the iceberg, especially since we seem to now have some inroads internationally based on who we now have on the team. I do remember that Parotta mentioned interest this past winter in one particular forward who played somewhere in one of the real northern European countries. Could we still be involved with that player? I don't know, but I do have to admit I feel the same way as you in that I'm also getting a bit anxious the longer this plays out without any hardcore information.
If true, we loose out to a school in the Southland Conference, go figure!! How could he pass up the opportunity to play his road games in such hot spots as buffalo and jersey city. Trade those places for road games at Thibodaux, LA. and Conway, Ark.
