"Mcgruder has to get better on defense to really be a help." Really, you don't think she was a big help this year? "Was a bit shocked that Rubino did not return" My thoughts also; she had told me several times in the fall that she was never leaving. "I am a lifer". Probably figured there would not be much playing time. McGruder's shooting was a HUGE help for the Stags. She hit a lot of big shots and she showed no fear in taking them. She was also pretty good moving the ball around. I thought she got an injury with a few weeks left in the season and never seemed to quite get back up to full speed - but before that, I had her in line to take a run at an All-MAAC spot. I think Rubino graduated and might have 2 years of eligibility left, too. Probably makes her a more attractive transfer to bring in and gives her a chance to reset and establish herself at a new program. Likely looking for a bigger role.

I follow the UConn women, and aside from Bueckers and Fudd, I’m not familiar with the Nil situation with other players. However, Amari DeBerry, who was highly rated out of high school, but has hardly played in 3 years at UConn, is now appearing in a TV ad for a small law firm. I’m guessing the other players get some sort of decent Nil package.

I'm no UConn fan, but I give Geno credit for what he says here.

Wow, that is spot on. Not only is that tough, but you have coaches jumping quickly anymore. I think I saw the Canisius coach is gone after just two years on the job for a MAC job. Lateral move coaching for the most part. Siena coach is gone as well, not sure what his reason was or where he went. It stinks.

I saw someplace that over 40 of the top scorers on D1 women's teams had entered the portal...that sounds like someone looking for $. If that is the case, how does a mid major keep players anymore. It really stinks.

ChatGPT has an NIL idea....
[Scene: A bustling car dealership named Fast Eddie's, with bright lights and colorful banners. A group of excited women's college basketball players, The Fairfield Stags, are gathered around a shiny new car.]
Narrator: "Hey there, folks! Are you ready for an experience that's faster than a full-court press and smoother than a perfectly executed pick-and-roll? Welcome to Fast Eddie's, where we're not just about selling cars, we're about creating winning teams!"
[Cut to shots of the Fairfield Stags dribbling basketballs through the showroom, high-fiving customers, and trying out different cars.]
Narrator: "At Fast Eddie's, we know the importance of teamwork. Just like the Fairfield Stags, we believe that success is achieved when we work together towards a common goal. That's why our team is dedicated to finding the perfect car for you, whether you're driving solo or bringing your whole squad along for the ride!"
[Cut to a group of happy customers, including members of the basketball team, posing in front of their new cars with Fast Eddie himself, who is giving them thumbs up.]
Narrator: "So, if you're tired of sitting on the bench and ready to get in the game, run with the Stags on down to Fast Eddie's and let us help you drive away a winner!"
[Cut to the Fairfield Stags cheering and driving off the lot in their new cars, as the Fast Eddie's logo and contact information appear on the screen.]

RE: car dealers (I know a few) - prevailing thought is that it’s a bad idea to make an 18-22 year old the face of your dealership - anything bad or irresponsible reflects on the dealership.

I think you might be a couple of days early with that one! I believe car dealership NIL is one of the more popular types (Google). Even a Siena player had one, I think. Having said that... I was just making a ChatGPT joke. There is surely plenty of $$$ in CT and I would expect the Fairfield collective is exploring all sorts of possible and appropriate opportunities for athletes.

Hailey Van Lith in the portal... CTD go get her. Absolutely not! Awful attitude, doesn’t fit in with this team.
