Also, Fairfield’s staff does a good job of not liking tweets from transfers or recruits. Liked tweets are visible to competing coaching staffs and nosey fans like us haha So we’re letting recruits know we’re interested in them by ignoring their social media posts? Sounds like an unusual way to recruit to me. I would assume the personal contacts are far more relevant. I'm going to give CTD the benefit of the doubt here. She seems to know what she's doing.

Hailey Van Lith in the portal... CTD go get her. Absolutely not! Awful attitude, doesn’t fit in with this team. Stats don't tell the whole story. Great clip from Geno on why even the best player may not fit.

This video fits Van Lith to a T. Let TCU have her

You know, I know what he means but sometimes this is hard to access. I always thought Kendall McGruder had bad body language, seemed kind of negative until I heard an interview with her. She was very positive in the interview. I think in the case of Kendall she was her own worst critic - gets down on herself when she misses shots. Some players do that and its different from having a bad attitude.
That said, the coach with the worst body language I have ever seen was Jay Young. What a difference to watch CTD and CC. Players connect with these coaches. Players that have the confidence to shoot hit for higher percentages. I believe the big point that Geno is making is that positively breeds winning is 100% on point.

Having the very best players doesn't hurt, either.

The more I hear of Geno speaking the more respect I have for him as a coach and as a representative for UCONN!

I don't care if a player is upset they miss shots, but you can't quit shooting if you are out there for that purpose, and you absolutely can't quit on defense. I have seen that happen with her. She will get mad and foul someone intentionally, or out of laziness, or she's mad, etc. You can't do that at this level. CTD and the staff carry themselves very well, I love watching them coach.

Any updates on potential transfers? It looks like 250 out of 1200 plus in the portal have landed at new places. Was hoping to hear about a new big, or guard committing to Fairfield.

A great team becomes greater with a dominant inside player. Its hard to say one player could make this team more dominant than last years team, but I kind of think that would be true. When going up against the top tier programs they have inside players that the Stags just don't much up with, despite all the other positives.

I feel like we’re in a Catch-22 situation with getting a good big. With last year’s success, the type of good big we’d want to match up with the perennial top 25 schools is probably looking at the Indianas, Marylands, UNCs, etc. that have traditionally had a big (or several bigs) on their roster and played traditional offenses which sought to utilize the talent of the big in close to the basket. They’re probably not looking to become a roadrunner.
Do we switch our offensive approach in order to accommodate a big that can match up with a Big10 or SEC big or do we stay with the system that worked so well last season and hope that perhaps we get a couple more roadrunners that would hopefully be able to adequately defend any dominant big we’re likely to face in next year’s tournament? We’d have to use quickness and roster depth in that case.

wbbblog.com is reporting that Kate Peek is transferring to NYU, the defending D-III national champions. Best of luck to Kate!

We’d have to use quickness and roster depth in that case. I feel as though there are 6'3" girls that can run and fit our offense, but would also allow them to bang a little bit more than Meg, Beach, Emina can down low and hold their ground defensively against the size. At the top 25 level, you can't leave perimeter guards to go help down low, the level of shooters they have is too good. We can't pack a zone in to help either as that exposes the perimeter.
