Even though the Stags have not been great for a long time, nevertheless there have been a few good performances that might be worth a watch, especially those that we know were on national TV. For instance just this past year, defeating Texas A&M brought a good feeling at the time. Maybe a couple of the MAAC Tournament wins in 2018 could be found. Always fun to check back on Tyler Nelson to be reminded of what excellence was truly about. Can any of the big wins of the Cooley teams be located? Just suggestions to consider.
All great suggestions! If film or video highlights are available then the person to let know about those suggestions would be Zach. Keeping Stag fans, our fellow alumni, season ticket holders, Stag Club members and students connected to the basketball program should be a priority for the Athletic Department, especially in these uncertain times.

That was fun to watch again. Now if anyone can find a replay of that epic Holy Cross game, or the four OT Stevie Burtt (the elder) thriller, or those early 70s NIT games, or the Stags vs. the Bob Lanier Bonnies, or Stags vs. Elvin Hayes Houston Cougars, and I'm sure many more the Stag faithful would love to see again.
Enjoying watching this one on a rainy day in northern VA. 11 minutes in ... Fairfield 24 North Carolina 15
Francis with a 3 to keep it to a two point game at the 5 minute mark.
Tice had an open 3 that would have pulled within 1 at the 4 minute mark.
Eniojukan with a three point play to make it 72-69 with 3 and half to go.
I was at the game, but in all honesty, my memory has faded a bit over the years. I thought the wheels came off a bit earlier, but this game is still very close at this point.
Tice within another open 3 that would have tied it at the 3 minute mark. Missed but we get the rebound with another shot to tie, but turn the ball over.

Just a heck of an effort. 3 point game at 2:10. Still only a 5 point game at 0:38.
So close ... Darren Phillip and Brent Wall on the bench as the clock winds down.
Paul Cormier congratulates Dean Smith after one heck of a game.
Vince Carter has scored 25,728 points in the NBA ... and is still playing. Antawn Jamison scored 20,042 points in the NBA. Shammond Williams played 11 seasons in the NBA.
But the player who beat us more than any of the others was ... Serge Zwikker, Carolina's 7'3" center.

Zwikker was selected by the Houston Rockets with the first pick of the second round (29th overall) in the 1997 NBA Draft, and spent one season on the Rockets' bench. However, he did not record any playing time. Due to the 1998 NBA lockout, he signed a three-year contract with TAU Cerámica in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.

I felt the key play of the game was when Zwikker committed an offensive foul on Bowman and the call went against Bowman. I'll always feel if Swikker had to come out of the game Fairfield would have held on.
There's an excellent article today in the Connecticut Post by Jeff Jacobs and his interview with Anthony Latina of Sacred Heart concerning this whole transfer situation. And in it it's interesting to note that Latina, although basically destroyed by important players leaving his program recently and this year (Cane Broome, Quincy McKnight, E.J. Anosiki and Cameron Parker) takes a fairly nuanced view of the whole situation while carefully listing the pros and cons relating to kids coming and going. I think it's a great piece because it depicts how complex the whole thing is yet also shows Anthony is a very thoughtful person without any vengeance against the system in mind. I'd appreciate it if someone could link. Thanks.
Wow, here's one I missed from SHU. Apparently for at least the last two weeks, second leading scorer Koreem Ozier has been in the transfer portal. Supposedly the sophomore guard who averaged 14 PPG this season is considering Butler, Iowa State, New Mexico, Cal State Northridge and East Carolina in the final group, although interestingly enough it is suggested that he still could come back to the Pioneers. More devastating to Latina and his team if he doesn't, that's for sure.
It will be really interesting to see which way they go on the transfer rule.
My latest contradictory thought is that maybe it could help MMs with getting better frosh out of the gate. With far fewer transfers sitting, overall, a kid reaching to a HM has a much better chance of finding himself the 12th or 13th guy on the roster instead of the 10th or 11th. That could be the difference between-back-of-the-bench minutes and walk-on minutes and could change some minds.
Or - and though this idea was rejected on the MAAC board - do you think it's possible that schools might drop a basketball scholarship or two? If money is a little tighter going forward and schools really have no incentive to red shirt kids... do you really need 13 scholarships? Full rides to a couple of kids that will likely get the same minutes and have the same impact as present day walk-ons?
